Many of us have long resisted upgrading BC from 4.6.2 to 4.7.3 due to the Google Earth link.
Now that link has gone is there any other reason not to update? Or conversely is there any good reason to update?
Basecamp Version
Re: Basecamp Version
As 4.6.2 continues to work for me I'm not planning to update, my advice would be if it's working for you then there is little point in updating as later versions had nothing added to benefit users in my opinion, it was more to do with complying with GDPR than anything else although those with the XT should update as there were specific updates to cater for the XT. The full changelogs are here, such as they are:

Re: Basecamp Version
I just checked my Basecamp Version to see how out of date I am and it's at 4.7.3 and I didn't even know it

Re: Basecamp Version
I have seen many people reference to GE and accessing it from Basecamp
I have never used that feature so what exactly does it do?

Re: Basecamp Version
It shows the data in Google Earth, whether it's routes or tracks or waypoints. In GE you can look at the terrain and street view if you want to. Very convenient to check details of your routes etc.

Re: Basecamp Version
I know this is a very old discussion.
However, I stuck to 4.6.2 until now but Garmin will not help me with an issue whereby I can no longer sign in to myGarmin through Basecamp unless I upgrade. I can sign in to Garmin Connect etc on a browser so I know the sign-in is valid.
Any opinions before I bite the bullet and upgrade.

Re: Basecamp Version
Make an appointment with the dentist first?
It has been a very long time since there has actually been a Basecamp upgrade or bug fix. The last few versions only removed features that were no longer supported. Google is mostly to blame for the loss of Google Earth support in Basecamp and other programs. Google kept making changes to their API and finally their access fees increased thousands of times from near nothing to a level unsupportable by free software.
