While I've been generally very happy with the XT, there are a few small things that bother me.
Is it just me, or do others have similar complaints that we should try to get Garmin to address ?...
1. Having moved up from a Zumo 665, I miss a small, current time clock in the upper right of the screen, especially when traveling into a different time zone. Not a big thing - but I miss it.
Mod: No, it is not there - but you can configure the white box in the bottom right corner to show whatever you want. Just tap it and choose.
2. Also miss the having the zoom level displayed on the map. It does show on a loaded route, but not when just viewing the map. Annoying.
Mod: Zoom level isn't on the normal map - but if you tap the map (as if you were creating a waypoint) the screen display changes with the +/- buttons centre top. The orientation button shows at the top left, so you can use that to cycle between 'north up' and 'direction of travel up'. That button disappears along with some on the right hand side after a few seconds. Bottom left is a scale below the compass.
3. The info bars, at top and bottom of the screen, are needlessly big - a waste of screen space. I'd really like to see them made a bit smaller.
I will put a ticket in with with Garmin....

Re: XT Wishlist
It doesn't show for me when I am on a route, and the compass arrow has disappeared too
Re: XT Wishlist
Besides what's been mentioned I'd like to have the search for cities back.
..Tom
Moderator reply: You can still search for cities on the XT. Where To? -> Address -> Spell Town When you find the one that you are after and select it - you have the option to start navigating to it or save it as a Favourite / Saved location / Waypoint.
Note also (Not what you asked, but many people do not know about it) When you select Where To? from the main menu the screen that displays has a blue label at the top left - next the the 3 bar menu. It has your location and a little Tear Drop symbol.
If you press that, you can specify how to restrict your search. May Active Route is a very good one to know about, but there are all sorts of other options. That little Tear Drop Icon appears on other screens as well - just by itself. Pressing it does the same thing - it narrows your search to whatever you select.

Re: XT Wishlist
Those are my small issues too. I did open a ticket with Garmin about the missing compass needle and map scale (zoom level) that disappeared from the latest firmware update. They requested screen shots which I sent.

Re: XT Wishlist
Can you add a Safety Lanyard, or at least an inbuilt loop that you can thread one through to the wish list. My cycling Garmins have them, why don't their motorcycling ones have them as well?

Re: XT Wishlist
They are certainly changing the models from how they used to be.
Time of day and 8 point compass direction are both available as configurable buttons down the right hand side of the screen. The button at the bottom right is always there, and that too can be configured for different vehicles and for when there is / is not a route active.
Not necessarily exactly how you want it (and it takes up screen space, which I don't mind) but they are available.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: XT Wishlist
I wish the "up ahead" and "trip data" well actually all the info on the right pane was smaller just like on the 590!
it reduces the navigation map considerably!
I like to have the pane visible at times but its way too big

Re: XT Wishlist
Just looking through these posts - There were two at the top that didn't have answers - and really they deserved one. Apologies for making you wait threee years @larryg and @V-Tom ! I've taken the liberty of posting an answer underneath the questions - for the benefit of others that may come across the question.
