Disappointed

Post by Rusty Nuts »

I live in West Yorkshire. I nipped out on Thursday and covered 4,700 miles on my motorbike. I even got home before teatime. The zumo tells me I either rode or rowed the Atlantic. When out on the bike it never finds towns I want to visit, it sends me round in circles despite not choosing curvy options and all in all under performs my 595 LM. Do I have a faulty unit, or are there logical explanations and fixes?

Oh, and the forum software is inverting the attached image.

Yep, looks like it started in Kansas, where Garmin has its HQ, then sort of got a lock but never achieved it as the Zumo was moving. Need to sit it somewhere with a clear view of the sky so it can learn where it is, after that all should be well.

Thanks for the replies and picture rotating. It's been on the bike since last year, so why it suddenly thinks it's back in the States is a bit odd. Plus the issues of just not finding places and sending me in circles.

Hmmm that is strange then!

It's not reset itself has it? My 590 did that once or twice

As for the routing I can answer that

Where abouts in West Yorkshire are you ?
You can't be more than 4,500 miles away from me !

I live in West Yorkshire. My family live in South Yorkshire. I cannot get to see my elderly mother without going through North Yorkshire. I think there is a wormhole somehwere.

The XT seems to need a good run with a good satellite fix before it starts to do anything that remotely resembles the expected behaviour of a satnav. I got my XT around the time the country was put into lockdown. Don't travel. Stay indoors, unless you are going for 30 minutes exercise. My XT needed the exercise too, so I took it out to see how it would behave. It didn't it was all over the place - it didn't seem to know where it was. It had to come with me in the car to get our essential shopping, and at car speed it took it about a mile before it seemed to recognise where it was in relation to its surroundings - and more importantly, retain that information.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
