595 USB connection

Yesterday I tried for the first time to use the USB section of the octopus cable that came with my 595 by plugging my Android phone into it. What I found was that the phone "connects as a media device". Ok, that's not my plan but whatever. But no phone charging? This is normal, that I can use the phone for "stuff" but it doesn't charge? Am I missing something here?

The USB on my 590 is a bit hit and miss, both in terms of charging and connectivity functions. I use a separate twin USB charger (I already had installed).

had trouble once in a while and now I just use the bike mount or the garmin specific charger
