Hi, I'm having very similar problems with my 590. It is unable to connect, it tries when you first plug in the cable and comes up with the orange "connected to computer" splash screen, but them the computer gives a notification that " The Last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Window does not recognize it"
I have tried different cables/computers, checked batteries, reset to factory settings, etc etc. No joy.
It has been doing this for a while and i have been looking around for solutions without success, I have been loading routes via the SD card but I obviously haven't been able to perform any updates.
Does anyone have any bright ideas?
Thanks.

I wonder if your USB connection has got a little slack?
With the lead inserted at both ends, gently put a tiny bit of weight on one flat side of the connector that is plugged into the Zumo and hold it there for long enough to see if it connects.
Then try the same from the other side.
You are not trying to bend anything. You are just trying to encourage a possibly poor contact to be in contact.
Watching for the connection in Windows is usually faster than watching for it in Basecamp.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: 595LM Won't connect to computer
My 590 would not connect, tried various cables & computers.
Was under warranty & was replaced with a new 595.
595 worked perfectly for a year or so, now takes about 10 minutes to connect.
Different cables or computer makes no difference.
Can't be a physical cable issue as eventually it does connect, so is probably a firmware/ software issue somewhere.
Now, I just connect the usb cable & go off & do something else for a while

Device time to connect is determined to some extent by any track log data, when there is lots it takes longer. You could try clearing your track log data and see if that helps
