A "How To" Question about creating different Databases

Post by Iris »

I thought I saw this somewhere but now I can not find it. Does someone have a tutorial on how to create databases and once the databases have been created, how to backup the variety of databases so that if there is a system crash, you would be able to pull all the data bases back in and be able to see all folders and lists as they were created in BaseCamp.

I don't understand exactly how or where BaseCamp saves these files.
I do know that they are in the following directory (on my computer): C:\Users\Iris\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp\Database

But if I have multiple Databases, what files are the ones I need if my system crashes?

Not sure if I asked this question properly or clearly.

I may have misunderstood your question, but Basecamp creates a database automatically, located as you say.

I back up all of the files - less than 300KB in total. You can back them up anywhere. You can choose which database to use in Basecamp by going to Edit/Options/General. I actually locate my database in Dropbox, which means it can be shared by Basecamp on my PC and laptop.

That’s fine for the default database which most people use only that.
I have created other databases that I can toggle between. For example: I have a FJR Rides, Dirt Rides, Hiking, Mountain Biking, etc., etc.
This way I toggle between my activities and I don’t have too many things sandwiched on top of each other. For example, I don’t want to take my FJR on Dirt Rides.

If you name your databases appropriately it should be easy for you to back them up?
