3D AM Adapter

Having issues with this adapter not charging the Garmin Zumo XT. The unit powers up the Garmin when ignition is switched on and powers down when ignition is switched off but no charging icon showing on Garmin screen. I have seen an article on this forum about soldering a new variable voltage converter to the unit but have been unable to find this item. can anyone help?

its a stepdown converter from 12v to 5v and you will need a minimum of a 2A output too

On the 3DAM adaptor carefully remove the cover where the wire comes out and desolder the board thats fitted and swap it for whicher one you purchase

First though I would check you have voltage at the pins of the current adaptor and that its not an issue with the pins not making contact with the zumo

Morning Stu, thanks for that information regarding the part to purchase from eBay and also the information regarding the pins. are the two pins positive and negative? What do you do if the pins are not making contact? Kind Regards Don.

Yes you have a positive and a negative as for it not making contact I suspect you would need a new connector but not sure where you would get one from

Hi Stu, Soldered the new converter in today, still not showing a charge on the Zumo. Checked the voltage at the Garmin pins voltage showing 5.09 volts. Any help would be appreciated. Kind Regards, Don.
