Hi All, I have a track displayed on the map on my XT. It is not either of the two that I thought it might be so I am wondering if there is a way to identify it other than going into each track and looking for the "Show on map" check mark.
Edit: or, a way to turn off the display on map of all tracks.
How can I tell which track is displayed on map?

No. You've got me on that one. But I have some ideas.Peobody wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:42 pm Hi All, I have a track displayed on the map on my XT. 0. In Tracks, select a track, it gives you a preview map which helps to link colour to a name to the line on the map.
1. Colour code your tracks differently.
2. Only ever display one track on the map at a time. That way, turning them off is not difficult - do it at the same time as turning the other one on.
3. (Its OK, I'll go for the bar of soap before I suggest this) - turn on Explore and use the category function. You cannot show an individual track when Explore is enabled. Instead, you have categories and any track can belong to any number of categories. Then you can turn on/off whichever categories you want. It doesn't get round the problem of knowing which is which, but it does make them easier to turn on and off.
Ok - I'll go and wash my mouth out for even suggesting this.
4. Transfer Current.gpx to Basecamp. That will allow you to quickly identify which track is which - as the track goes bold when you click on the name.

Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: How can I tell which track is displayed on map?
I normally just enable the one associated with a route I am going to ride and then disable it once I'm home but this one is route that I haven't ridden for awhile. I suspect that I enabled it for a testing purpose and then forgot to turn it off.
When selecting a track in Tracks, the preview map does not include the track line of the enabled track so is no help in matching the enabled one to the selected one. It appears that my only option is to open the Edit options of each track in Tracks and check its 'Show on map' check mark. I only have a half dozen of them so this is not a big deal. I was just hoping for an easy button, and to learn something new.

Of course, it could be the track log, which is turned off separately. Can't remember where. Maps maybe. But that is easier to spot. Light blue.

Another 'Over the top' suggestion.
Transfer all your tracks to your PC.
Delete All tracks.
Verify that its gone from the map.
Transfer them back from your PC.

Re: How can I tell which track is displayed on map?
Thanks @FrankB. Your method would have been the way to go if I had a lot of tracks but having just six, I found it by looking at the "Show on map" option in each track.
I think a method of identifying the tracks being displayed is a worthwhile suggestion to Garmin. I did a search for a Garmin feedback "suggestion/improvements" site but didn't find one. Anyone know of one (probably for the XT2 at this point)?

Re: How can I tell which track is displayed on map?
That was what I was trying to say with 'Over the top'. I realise that I sometimes use expressions without verifying if they're appropriate. Was it in this case?
Totally off-topic: I learned that expression when I bought an album by a drummer called Cozy Powell. It was his first solo album. (long long ago)
Back on-topic: Changing the setting 'Show on Map' does not modify the corresponding GPX file 'Internal storage/GPX'. The date time of the file remains the same and a file compare shows no differences. I cant see any difference on any of the other files in 'Internal Storage'. I assume the info is kept somewhere in a hidden place on the XT.
When you change the color of a track, then I do see that the corresponding GPX is modified.
Not really useful info I guess, but I had a good time.

'Over the top' - perfect use of the phrase.
Dance with the Devil. Very popular here in the UK. Odd to get a drum solo so high in the charts. As soon as a read 'Cozy Powell' I could hear that arhythmic drum beat in my head. I had to go and play it to see if I has remembered correctly. Spot on. It must be 50 years since I last heard that. Now I can't get the damn thing out of my head.

I had not heard of Cozy Powell. Now I'm deep in a youtube rabbit hole.
