Re: GPX test route
It's interesting that when I download a GPX route it opens in Mapsource. It never shows on Basecamp which is also installed on my laptop

Re: GPX test route
Thats because mapsource will be the default programme on the laptop
if you just right click then go to open with and choose basecamp it will open up
then recalculate the route

Re: GPX test route
I don't get that option Stu, when I left click the route it immediately opens in Mapsource. If I right click it gives me the "open link in new tab, new window" etc

Re: GPX test route
Save the file to your PC. Open Basecamp. Click on File - Import into "My Collection".
Then just get it to recalculate the route (it will show as straight lines) and there you have it.

Re: GPX test route
That worked, thanks Alan. I already had Basecamp open and it didn't give the option to Import to my Collection

Re: GPX test route
Thanks Stu, I did some of it a few years back. Got a mate who lives up that way and he often takes me on some interesting roads.
Cheers, Pete.

Re: GPX test route
If you right click on the gpx file, having found it in File Explorer, a pop-up menu appears. One of the items is 'Open with ...'. Click it.
In the resulting list there may be an option to open with Basecamp.
Note that at the bottom of the list is a tick box to always open gpx files with this program. Tick it before you select the program.
If Basecamp isn't listed, further down there is an option to choose another app. You may be able to find it in the lists that are presented, but if not, at the bottom is the option to look for an app on the PC.
Basecamp is typically installed in C:\Program Files(x86)\Garmin\Basecamp. Navigate utnil you find the Basecamp.exe file
Click Basecamp.exe
Basecamp will open up, and should be set to open up gpx files in the future.
Your gpx files will then display the small Basecamp Logo when seen in File Explorer.
Providing that you ticked the tick box.
