I have absolutely no MAC experience, but it appears that 'Android File Transfer' can no longer be downloaded. Apparently there's an alternative called OpenMTP.

I very much hope this is a glitch on Google's Android web site, or perhaps they have killed the link while they update to a new version?
But yes, for now there is no download link for AFT.
UPDATE: the support section of that site says AFT is no longer supported. I have installed and tested OpenMTP and after only a few minutes of head scratching (to get the SD card contents to appear, you hit an icon labeled "Storage" ???) I found it to work pretty well.

I've been using OpenMTP to help with planning for a big ride in July. Once I got used to its somewhat clunky interface, I like it a lot better than the now obsolete Android File Transfer. Its big two-window display at first bugged me as it obscured open Finder windows, which are needed when moving trip files around to "cure" them using JaVaWa's excellent web repair tool. But once I got used to OMTP's windows, I no longer feel the need to see the Finder.
One important note: if you have installed AFT, it is set to automatically activate and run background functions when you log in to your Mac. Disable this, then log out or reboot, to avoid interference with OMTP. At first I didn't and connection took forever.

I tried MacDroid a few days ago, and could not get it to work. I killed it, then fired up AFT and BOOM it connected... (yes, AFT was completely not running when I launched MacDroid).
