I have a Zumo 665 with updated memory to 16GB (Palm Doctor). It currently has 2024 maps. If I plug it in to my computer, the computer recognizes it on Garmin Express but, if I try and up date the maps (it has 2024 maps installed), there are no selections to make. In other words, you cannot up date the maps.
What I did last year was to make a "clone" of the 665's main memory onto. a flash drive. Just in case something happened and I needed to replace the memory.
Yesterday, when I plugged the flash drive in, Garmin Express recognized it as my 665 and also allowed a map update to the 2025 maps.
I thought maybe Garmin had changed the rules about allowing 2025 maps on the 665 so today, I plugged it in to my computer and no updates were allowed.
So, my question is, can I just copy my flash drive to my 665, erasing all the old memory (over maybe just overwriting it)?
If so, has anyone done that with success?
Thanks.

Re: Zumo 665 Map Updates
It's been a long time since I did this with my 660, so proceed with caution, but I don't think you need to copy everything. I think that the map image files and perhaps the unlock codes should do it. The only time I had to copy everything was way back on a 350 (I think) which I had accidentally formatted.

Think you'll find this is the reason

However as you seem to have managed to download to a clone I'd follow danham's advice.

Re: Zumo 665 Map Updates
Thanks for the responses. I will consider following Dunham's advice. I just don't want to take a chance of messing it up.
I guess if I copy the memory contents to another "drive" I could us that for "recovery".
