XT "cannot communicate with the update server...

Post by Snijderj »

... Try installing updates later."

I am getting this error message all the time now. I'm in the UK, my internet is fine, 72.5 Mbps download speed to my PC over ethernet cable, my WiFI is also fine as witnessed by my laptop on WiFI where everything works fine. The WiFI connection on the XT seems ok too, it says it is connected to my WiFI network.

Is there a problem at the Garmin end or could there be something else at my end?

try using the USB cable connected to your computer, run Garmin Express and see if Express can recognize your XT, if it does then click Options on Express and see if Express shows Update Options for your XT, if yes then that might prove that the Garmin site is working

I have the same exact issue. Tried two separate network: same result.

Was able to update maps (seems successfully despite an error message at the end) but still doesn't connect to the server and doesn't sync time.

Ok, sorted.
It had to find all satellites. When it found its own position, the internet connection started working again.
