New xt2 ... using mra 1.1gpx problem with routes not importing

Post by JS_racer »

OK, sorry if this has been covered.. did some searching, and sort of spun in circles..c
I have a xt, download the gpx 1.1, shoot it to the xt with drive and get a track, and working route in trip planner with via and shaping points all as expected.. have done this for years and years..
Now, I have a new xt2 in my hand.. have tread installed, explorer synced, tracks and other stuff ... I see tracks, routes, and other stuff under garmin explore.. so that's good.. my issue come trying to send tracks routes and stuff, from mra gpx.. it's nice they import, can select or create the collection. My issue is with the route with via and shaping points.. it seems to show them as tracks, with the actual track listed .... so 2 tracks, vs route and track..
Well shoot, that's not good... I hope there is a workaround, tweak , or something to sort this... using a computer and a cable is not an option, since I create routes and stuff traveling, or at lunch for example...yes,I can use a computer and usually do, but I need this to work when I don't have one with me. If that makes sense. (Using the cable, worked with no issue in my test gpx) I thought about pulling the card, card reader on the phone, but not liking that as an option either.
I see I can convert to a route on the xt2 from a track... but that has no shaping or via points.. I guess I would turn off recalculation and hope for the best?? If the route gets confused, will it change at all ?? Say on the xt, sometimes if a route loops, and I stop at a gas station, for example..cit may have me go the other way, but it's easy to correct, sometimes by restarting the route, or shaping to via and selecting that... just things I found that work..

I want to like the xt2, and have no problem with the price, but this track, route thing is big for me.. I spend weeks riding in the mountains at a time.
My xt has been good over the years, it does and works well.. in fact this one is new, only a few weeks old from a garmin exchange...
(I have 30 days for a full refund on the xt2, so I'm sort of under the gun to see if I can't get it sorted.. )

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and thanks so much for your time.

https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=U ... lO5VPpO9c8

that says...
Route Changed Into a Track when Imported into the Tread App
When a route imported into the Tread® App exceeds the 62 point limit, the route will automatically be converted to a track. Tracks will not provide the turn-by-turn navigation prompts. To receive the turn-by-turn navigation prompts, the track can be converted into a route on the zūmo® XT2 GPS navigator. To convert a track into a route on the zūmo XT2 see: Save Part of a Track Log as a Route.

interesting, I'll play with it more today.. above and below the 62 point mark..
as well as if converting in tread gives any different results vs converting on the xt2..

seems 60 works, 65 it sees it as a track...
sd works, otg phone cable to xt2 and sees it as a computer.. although not having luck moving or copying gpx from the phone to the otg drive..
seems a sd card adapter, and popping the card in and out works
not sure how big of an issue this is, if i use mra to use 60 points for wireless transfer, vs more for wired or sd..

sigh.... as my xt all new and shiny is smiling at me pounding my head against the wall... lol
