Re: Basecamp and PCs with multiple drives

Thanks very much for the advice sussamb. On transferring maps, although I do still have the old laptop, I was planning just to download the maps afresh on my new laptop, having assumed that the Lifetime maps option would just let me do that?

Basecamp and PCs with multiple drives

Hi, non-techie computing question alert! I recently replaced my laptop with one that has a SSD for programs and a HDD for data. In capacity terms the HDD is much larger than the SSD. When I get around to installing Basecamp on the new laptop, does everything need to be on the same drive? Or could I ...

Renaming via points

Most of the via points on my routes are unannounced shaping points. I use announced via points for places I actually want to stop. I edit the names of the announced points to something meaningful, e.g changing "London Road and Brook Street" to "Stop 3 coffee shop." However, when I transfer the ...

Transferring routes to device

Not sure whether this belongs in the BaseCamp forum or in the 396 forum but here goes...

Am I missing something? 396 has wifi capabilities. Then why can't I send a new route (composed in Basecamp) to my 396 without physically attaching my 396 to my computer?

NT or NTU?

Possibly a dim question but what's the difference between an "NT" map and an "NTU" map?
Thanks!

Re: Incident detected

i've not installed .30 yet. I thought the 396 would do updates automatically by WiFi but it seems not. I'll look into updating when I've finished dealing with my dead NAS drive... one IT issue at a time please!

Re: Incident detected

Can you change it between car mode and bike mode? Would it make any difference? Worth a try, I suppose. A quick skim-read of the manual suggests the only difference between bike mode and car mode is that fuel tracking is unavailable in car mode. I don't use that feature anyway. I wonder if there ...

Re: Incident detected

Suddenly yesterday, after behaving for a couple of months, my 396 started throwing out "incident detected" alerts again. One of them was different though, saying [my next of kin contact] will be contacted, and started counting down from 30 seconds! I cancelled that one PDQ. If there's one thing more ...
