Re: What is this?

I've seen this and worse and my theory is it may be based on faulty traffic info. Other warnings that pop up in that same banner include a road closed (when it isn't) and a warning that I'm going the wrong way on a one-way road. Here is some detail on the phantom road closure that really threw me ...

Re: Wild goose chase

I've had it silently change the *destination* as well, when just selecting an address on-device and navigating to it. I really can't make any sense of it, it's a clear and accurate address, works fine in Basecamp and on the Montana 700i, all with the same NT 2026.1 map. zumowtf.jpg The chosen ...

Re: Loading MRA Routes Garmin Zumo XT

I was hoping you'd chime in, as you seem to be a Grand Authority on how these things work! :D > EXCEPT if you join the plotted magenta line that is drawn on the map after the shaping point that you have missed, it will carry on navigating ahead and forget about the missed shaping point. Ahh-- so if ...

Re: Loading MRA Routes Garmin Zumo XT

Thanks - yeah, I was wondering if it was just that the distances involved in my tests are too small, since I'm testing in an urban neighborhood on a grid. Though I still can't imagine any reason why it would route me past the destination just to go back to a shaping point in the middle! I should ...

Re: Loading MRA Routes Garmin Zumo XT

So I've been experimenting a bit (i.e., driving the same path over and over like a lunatic) and as far as I can tell, every point on the route, whether it's a shaping point or a via point, is treated as a hard must-visit. For instance, I created a simple route with a start, one shaping point in the ...

Re: Wi-Fi: Any purpose besides updates?

When the 2026.1 map update came out I thought I'd go ahead and allow the XT to do the map update itself over wifi. It started off and its time estimate crept up from 4 hours to 16+ hours, so I left it overnight. In the morning it had increased to 32 hours. So I plugged it in to my mac instead and it ...

Re: How to select a specific route_XT

I know what you're talking about. If you select a destination and then select the middle "fork in the road" icon rather than the green "Go!" arrow, you get two choices to pick from, labeled "1" in magenta and "2" in blue. I don't know how it chooses them, but in the examples I've tried they both ...

Re: Loading MRA Routes Garmin Zumo XT

There's the rub. If you chose the other fork, and then let the XT calculate, the result may be reasonable, but it may also be completely unreasonable, especially if there is a freeway nearby. The most aggravating thing for me about this is that it recalculates the entire remainder of the route ...

Re: Loading MRA Routes Garmin Zumo XT

Thank you guys very much for the detailed explanations. This helps a lot. I'm also mostly concerned about routes with maybe 5 - 8 shaping points, mainly just to keep to a particular backroad rather than a freeway, or select between two roads that end up more or less the same place, so that when I ...

Re: Loading MRA Routes Garmin Zumo XT

Is there a difference between importing gpx 1.1 (transfer route and shaping points, allow XT to calculate the route) and importing gpx 1.2 (no shaping points, but entire route as ghost points, no recalculation) in terms of the XT's behavior when deviating from the expected path? My fear is that I ...
