I have mainly used my Zumo XT in the car, so I do know the charging works (via the car charger). However I cannot get the sat nav to charge in the cradle.
My multimeter indicates the two charge pins only give approx 5 mV (not 5 V).
I phoned Garmin Support and they immediately sent out a replacement power supply, but this replacement also gives approx 5 mV so the sat nav will not charge.
Does anyone have any ideas how I have gone wrong connecting two cables directly to a 12 volt battery? Surely both power supplies cannot be defective?

The battery is putting out 12.8V, so I dont think its the problem.

If it works thru the charger, you have a power delivery problem in the cradle.
Many people complained about the pins not touching the cradle connectors good enough. I gave up and use a usb cable and 3.0 socket.

Red to red, black to black. I was going to try reversing them, just to see, but I think I should ask Garmin Tech support first.

I tried using the usb socket on holiday in Spain/Portugal, but had lots of other problems with the sat nav (switching off, not finding the route, re-starting etc, etc) But I didnt use a 3.0 power supply.

In Spain I used the cradle connected to a BMW 12v socket on the bike (instead of directly to a battery as I didn't want to mess with the rented bike and still questionable result). What a nightmare it was...

hook your XT up to the cradle and check your incoming 12v across the red/black wires, make sure its still 12v. Also check across your fuseholder, between the black wire and both sides to make sure theres not an issue there. Should be 12v on both sides with the fuse in on each blade.

Hi, thanks for replying, and trying to help, but I dont understand.
I have connected the black and red wires directly to the battery terminals (obviously black to positive, red to negative), with the zumo in place, I am getting 12.5V from the ends of the black/red wires.
But which fuse am I measuring across?
