I realize there's no Archive folder due to the reset. Same with the small current track log. I haven't used it much since the reset.
Travel history is ticked. As I said, all the tracks appear everywhere else. Just not in the Where I've Been app. I don't believe the tracks are the problem.
I usually back up the track logs every month or so. I have been doing that since I got the XT 4 years ago.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Where I've Been App
Re: Where I've Been App
I contacted Garmin. Their response was "A box on the right-hand side of the screen breaks down the travel history by day. Tap it to expand it and scroll through the recorded days. Touch a specific date to view that day's travel history. If a day is grayed-out, then the device was not used that day or no travel history was recorded on that date. If the compatible device was used on a day that is grayed-out, the travel history can be viewed in BaseCamp™."
Looks like I can only view the tracks in Basecamp which sucks since I used to be able to view them on the XT.

Re: Where I've Been App
OK I've just had another detailed look at mine.
Since the last reset, I am up to 31.gpx in the archive and Current Track Log.
I've looked at the dates available on the XT in two places
i) Tracks and the calculator style Tab on the right of the screen. This currently shows all of the tracks available under the heading 'Unsaved Tracks'.
ii)The Where I have been App, which shows a single date in a white box on the right of the screen superimposed on a map - showing the track. TApping this box adds another date and an up and down arrow. Dates with tracks are shown in dark black lettering. Days without tracks are in grey lettering.
Both of methods of access stop at 16 April 2024.
CurrentTrackLog has all of the tracks since 16 April 2024.
All of the rest are in the Archive folder, and none of those tracks appear on the XT screen.
From that, it looks like the apps show only the tracks that are recorded in CurrentTrackLog.gpx.
(But that doesn't match with your observations - you say that BC can see many more ?? My current track log which spans 16April to 28 April and has 25 tracks (it says) totalling 395 miles, is 2,648 Kb. Many of the tracks are very short eg 0.2 mi - resumably from turning it on and not traveling anywhere.
I know you didn't ask this, but I'm going to write it anyway, becasue I know some other people may be curious.
My total archive saved on my PC spans 31 files from 1.gpx to 31.gpx.
The Archive folded currently on the XT contains 23.gpx to 31.gpx - so only 9 files. 23.gpx was recorded on 1 November 2023 - and is just a dot located at my address. Today is the 1st May.
22.gpx is no longer on the XT - it has been removed. The contents of that file were part of a 200 mile circuit that I did on 17 Oct 2023. That file is 1280Kb long.
Previous Zumos kept 20 files in the archive, and deleted the oldest when it needed to archive CurrentTrackLog - form this observation it looks as though any files older than 6 months are deleted. Curiously part of my 200 mile trip is not present. I need to investigate that further.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: Where I've Been App
Yes, that is quite likely. Those two files are not used for the recorded tracks.
Temp.gpx contains all of the data that was last transferred from Basecamp. It is over-written the next time you connect a usb cable and transfer more data (drawn tracks, routes, waypoint).
Current.gpx contains all of the routes, tracks and waypoints that have been imported and which are available to the XT apps. (Tracks probably get removed)

Re: Where I've Been App
Hope you found an answer to your question. I have full access to the different dates. I have a question though… Is there a way of saving those different routes that are listed by date in the Where I’ve been app?

Re: Where I've Been App
They are the ones kept in CurrentTrackLog.gpx and the numerous files in the Archive folder in internal storeage / gpx. Download them and svae them periodically - overwrite previous downloads.Mariannepm wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 9:31 pm Hope you found an answer to your question. Or you can access them from the bottom window in Basecamp when the zumo is connected . Drag them into list in their own folder. Bc has tools fir quickly joinging fragmented tracks and for creating graphs of elevation and speed animated with the map.
You can also convert a track to a kml file and use it to fly thriugh a 3d landscape in google earth.

Re: Where I've Been App
Thanks for that. Found them in Basecamp alright. 1st time using BC… and new to Zumo too. Tracks appear as broken stages. Can they be saved as one trip?

Re: Where I've Been App
Glad you have found them.
Allow me to turn your screen around !!
Ok - Create a new list folder for your Track Log Files. Call it something sensible - like Track Logs.
You can do this on a PC by clicking the right mouse button on the top folder (My Collection) and select 'New List Folder from the pop up menu).
Create a New list in your New Track Logs folder (right click your new folder - New List). Call it something that represents the track eg 2024-06-03.
(Putting the date 'backwards' like that ensures that all of the tracks are sorted in order of date.)
Multi-select all of the tracks from 3 June and drag them to the new 2024-06-03 list. (You will appreciate the advantage of having them in date order)
To multi-select on the PC click on the first entry for this date, scroll the list to the last entry for this data, hold down the SHIFT key and click the last entry.
Drag the selected list (left click and hold) to you new 2024-06-03 folder.
There - that was easy.
Now you can select just your new list folder for 3 June and that is all that will be shon on the map.
Now select all of the entries in that folder - same technique of multi-select above.
Right click on one of the highlighted tracks and select from the Pop-Up window -> "Join the Selected Tracks"
The answer answer to whether or not you want to keep the originals is up to you. Remember - the originals are still on the Zumo, you copied them to you Basecamp folder - so probably, you just want the joined track.
Basecamp looks at the dates and times in the files to ensure that the track is assembled in the correct order.
Clever Innit ??
In future, you may want to doe the same with tracks that have been shifted to the archives. (each archive file will be deleted when it is a few months old. Can't remember if it is 3 or 6. - but you can drag the gpx file from the archive into a Zumo list and perform the same trick as above.
There is an option to create a route from a track in Basecamp. There is a chance that this may get recalculated on transfer though - if your maps are not the same as the Basecamp maps.
Or you can send the track to the Zumo and have it convert the track to a trip and follow that. Again - no route points, but these do not get recalculated if you are forced away from the magenta line.

Not as such - what you have here is a Track. You can use that to create a route using the Route creating tool on the menu bar. Simply put in a few points on the route, and then use the insert tool to add additional route points until the route lies completely on the track.

Re: Where I've Been App
Brilliant. Thanks a bunch. That definitely made sense once explained like that Since you appear to know a lot more than me (not that difficult ...) would you know why my music keeps on coming on during trips? It looks like any type of notification would trigger the music to start playing from my phone library...I have a Zumo XT, Iphone and Cardo Packtalk Edge all connected to each other...
