I think that now the movement of shaping points is improved in a route, as I'm pretty sure before you couldn't easily move them, and so had to make them into "stops" to do this. Now the shaping point can be moved.
Do you mean that you can now change the order of Shaping Points in the trip list, by dragging them to a new position ?

I gave that another try yesterday, without success. I couldn't move one. I know that it was possible once because I tried to master the technique and discovered that it was useless. All of the points were called 'shaping point' and when the screen scrolled it was impossible to know where to drop the point.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Correct, and I've just tried it on 2.09.58 which was released a week ago and it doesn't seem to be working as I thought that it was. So back to change them into stops to move them around :( and all the "pleasure" that brings!

I reported the fact that when using the Tread App to plan a route, changing a stops to a shaping point, it often moves the point to a different location. I sent videos of it happening. Demonstrated that it didn't necessarily do it immediately - sometimes the point would remain in the same position, but when you changed the 2nd or 3rd point, all of them would move onto a faster road at the same time.

They thanked me for the detail and evidence and said they would pass it on to the development team. Black hole.

And here's the answer for the shaping points / via points problem:

After further looking into it we have determined at this time these are app routing limitations and that we aren't going to be making any changes to them, the workarounds you currently are following (i.e using shaping points rather than waypoints) would be the recommended way forward.
While we aren't making any changes right now, the ticket is still there if we get further reports of this behaviour as this could impact a potential fix for it, but for now no action is being taken.

We apologise if this wasn't the outcome you were hoping for, and let us know if you have any questions!

That is a rather revealing response. I wonder how many other people in Garmin make the same error in believing that route points are either Waypoints or Shaping Points, rather than Via Points or Shaping Points. My comment is based purely on Garmin's own definitions.

App routing limitations ? A neat way of saying that "Your routes will not work."

And the Tread app calls them stops rather than via or way points.

My response to them was this:

I'm sad as for over 20 years from the StreetPilot 3 I've trusted Garmin sat navs to give consistent believable routing. Mapsource and then Basecamp have proved to be useful methods of planning routes.
I now do not trust the XT2 or Tread to behave in a way their predecessors did, and being forced into workarounds for basic functions is disappointing.

zumo R1 Radar? what´s that?

I will make some tests this week to investigate what's new with this software.

Let's hope they are improvements, and nothing gets worse

Evidently. it's their new Blind Spot System of some sort.

I updated and took a look at some of my wish list of fixes. Nothing seems to be better from a bench test perspective.
