Yes I believe they are re-calculated on my 660 and 665. And the maps on the 665 are limited by the memory (or so Garmin says). So, th3 665 is stuck a few years back.
I will keep an eye on the routes on the 660 and 665.

This probably belongs in the 660 section, but just want to point out that I used BC with my 660 for years and it almost always worked just fine for planning long, complex routes. The "compatibility" issue was really mostly about features in BC that are not supported on the 600. But for manual route planning -- the majority of what I use a GPS for -- it worked fine, with rare screwups that were as much due to the 660's "personality" as anything to do with Basecamp.
