CN NA NT 2026.10 is available
GE just advised me that CN NA NT 2026.10 was an available map update. I'm typing this while trying to decided if I want to proceed considering I just revised and reloaded all of the local routes that I like to keep on my XT.

Re: CN NA NT 2026.10 is available
I just did the update and Express failed miserably the first time. I got the dreaded "no detailed maps" error when my XT rebooted. So I tried again and all went well. Would WiFi have been a better choice? No way for me to tell.
As for updating all my stored routes, I take a lazy approach and update them only when I know I will be using them. Will this leave me stranded on the road with outdated routes some day? Maybe.

I'm the opposite, wanting to identify and fix any route changes made by the new map auto-calculation process.

I tend not to update at all until those hoppin' to it let us know of any problems. My riding style doesn't include detailed planning of much of anything other than a route, and really, the roads don't change all that much from update to update.

Re: CN NA NT 2026.10 is available
How do I load this map on my Windows 10 PC? I believe in the past, there was an option within Garmin Express that allowed me to load the current map on my PC. I'm not seeing that option or it's possible I'm not remembering how I did it in the past.

The option to install a map to a PC does not exists on Garmin Express 7.24 when an XT2 is connected. The two workarounds that I know of are to downgrade to 7.23 or use an older device.

Re: CN NA NT 2026.10 is available
i saw garmin express the previous version on a web site somewhere, if you install the previous express version it will allow your XT2 connected to computer to download maps to your computer only, I have a zumu 396 and express option to install maps on my PC is there, but its the XT2 users that need to run the previous express version, I just googled garmin express download and I think it gave an older express version, forget the website, I don't think it was a garmin site

Re: CN NA NT 2026.10 is available
I've never had a virus in files downloaded from FileHippo, but you do have to watch for unwanted "extras".
Their Download button actually downloads a small file named garmin-express-7.23.0.0-installer_xxx-xx.exe. It is a program to "manage" the download of the file you actually want. What it really does is offer to install additional programs. In my case it offered an antivirus program and a web browser. These add-ons are how they generate revenue to support their servers. The add-ons are easily declined, and then the installation program you want (garmin-express-7.23.0.0-installer.exe) is downloaded.
Both the download manager and the actual Express 7.23 installer are virus-free according to Windows Defender and Malwarebytes scans.
I've caught a few viruses over the years, which were major time sinks to fix, so I understand your caution about downloading programs from new sources. I've never lost data, but the system would not work properly, would not boot at all, or connectivity would be lost. Typically, I'd waste a day trying to surgically remove only the virus. When that (usually) failed, another day or more was lost reformatting my drives, re-installing the operating system, and then re-installing and re-configuring all my programs.
I finally got smart and began making automatic, incremental, daily image backups of my entire system to an external drive. Now, if I catch a virus, I just boot from a recovery USB stick and restore the entire drive to the exact same (virus-free) state it was at the time of the chosen backup. I've used Macrium Reflect for years, but licenses were getting expensive as we added newer computers to the household (up to six now). I've found that Hasleo Backup Suite Free serves the same purpose very well at no cost.
