Wow!, that's crazy. My original 550 is only using a 4 GB card.

Guess I go through the process - again.

That's it. I'm done fooling with this thing for a while. I've tried a number of SD cards from 8 gigs up to 32 gigs and get the same error: unable to complete route - out of memory. Gotta be something else going on.

The SD card I'm using is an 8 GB, but this sounds more like an internal memory problem. Or is it?
When you connect the Zumo 550 to your computer are you able to use File Explorer to look at the SD card as well as the GPS internal drive?
How much free memory do you have on the Zumo internal drive?

Yes it is, nothing you can do about it except split routes that won't calculate into 2 separate routes.

another option instead of a long route is to make waypoints then on the 550 just select that waypoint as a destination and allow the 550 to calculate the route, doing it that way will allow you to change your route and the 550 will automatically recalculate, just having waypoints might not take up much of the 550 internal memory space

The below is what I’m seeing and is what I think you’re asking:
Without the SD card installed, when I connect the 550 to my computer, it shows up as drive D:
If I install the SD card, it shows up as drive F:; The D: drive is showing.
If I look at the properties of drive D:, it says used space is 1.01 GB, with a free space of 119 MB.
If I look at the properties of F: drive, it says used space as 3.68 GB, with a free space of 26 GB.
FWIW – if I run a previous route with the SD card removed, it’ll go to about the same % place as before when it craps out for lack of memory.
I have screen shots of drive D: and drive F: contents if you need to see those.

the zumo might be using Internal Memory to do route calculations, maybe connect 550 computer and go thru Internal Memory and copy unused files to a new folder on computer, (just to be safe), files like foreign language files and vehicles you don't use, copy those to your computer then delete them on the 550 to make more room for Internal Memory route calculation space, deleting files from zumo Internal Memory can be risky, just be sure its files the 550 doesn't need for functioning operations.

Memory used for calculating routes etc isn't something a user can access. Only thing you can do is as I already posted, split the route into two.
