Something I remember being bit by is choosing Closest entry point for a loop route in which start and end were the same. CEP made it the shortest ride ever. I was at the end before I left my driveway. I have also had CEP want to take me backwards a long way when using it to try to join a route midway. Those issues aside, I have had pretty good luck with CEP but checking the map for what it produces is indeed wise.

Thanks to all for the input re CEP. I’d just noticed how much longer it took to (re)calculate your route when choosing start point over CEP.

I moved from a 346 to the XT2 so didn’t have CEP as an option before. I miss the simplicity but not the small, impossible to see in bright sunlight screen. Modifying a route on the go is so much easier too.

CEP/ Start Point update: Both work, with CEP being the quicker calculation option - unless (and probably not exclusively) you’re riding a day trip loop and your end point is closer than your start point. CEP then makes for a very short trip! I had to laugh when I realised my schoolboy error.

My next day one/week one error was not making sure a route would calculate on the XT2 before being sat on the bike ready for the off. A simple waypoint (via point) error was the problem. A slight moving of it back onto what the XT2 recognised as a road was all it took to fix it as I found out later. I had placed it exactly where I wanted it but it obviously didn’t count as a navigable road. Future routes will be checked on the Zumo for calculation first.

Every day’s an XT2 learning day. We’ll have it cracked by the time they’re obsolete.

BTW, some very poor results coming from those using Carpuride machines. Phones overheating and gobbling battery, gps signal loss, other random glitches.
