I was in the trips, on the xt.. selected some to rename, and got errors that said copy error or something.. don't exactly recall..

The high dpi on a 4k screen was super tiny.. lol..not sure if there was another way to see anything without a magnifying glass..

I'll look into the errors more .. I can't be the only one with them.. but possibly. I think garmin express tossed some of my old stuff on the new xt replacement..I'll document what I can... jist of it was selecting numbered trips, to rename..nothing fancy..

As far as the xt2... it will probably get sent back.. but I have till the 3rd of May to decide...

I (think to have) fixed the scaling on Hi-DPI. You can download V1.3.0.148 from my One Drive. https://1drv.ms/f/c/e97d3333e40b4915/Eq ... g?e=LONLWx
Can you confirm that works better?

TripManager should be able to do more than 62 Via points.

Hi,
I have an XT2 and have read as much as I can about TripManager and am keen to experiment a bit and see how well it works after all I have read.
Just a newbie question
Can I still keep the Tread app with the XT2 pairing permissions or should I reset the XT2 and do a fresh install of the Tread app and not give it pairing permissions?
Thanks!!!

I dont have an XT2 myself, but what I understand from @smfollen and @jfheath is that it will work, but the typical problems of having Tread synced will remain. It's best to disable the sync with Explore.

There is no option to disable synch on the XT2 or on your phone. Instead You have to reset the XT2 and delete the Tread app from your phone and then reinstall it - without enabling synchronisation or data storage.

You have to:
  • Copy your CurrentTrackLog.gpx and Archive folder if you like to keep your log files
  • Remove the Tread App from your phone
  • Reset the XT2
  • Turn on the XT2 - make sure that it doesn't turn off
  • Download and install a new Tread App. You will need to (not any in order)
    • Scan the QR code on the XT2 screen
    • Sign in to your Garmin account on the phone
    • Do not allow the XT2 to store data or synchronise
    • Put the XT2 settings back to how you like them
Beware - there is a new item on one menu that will set the XT2 to synch again
There is a option in settings on the Tread App to set up storing of data.
Don'r select either of these. If you do, Tread synch is enabled, and you will have to donthis all over again.
Resetting the XT2 does not delete your latest updates or maps. :|

With Synch not allowed, you still get access to:
  • Weather Data
  • Traffic and Road closure data
  • Up ahead places
  • Phone call info on the XT2 screen
  • email, messages and other alerts displayed on screen if you have them selected. These are chosen in the Tread app on the phone for Android devices or from a new item in the XT2 menus if you use an iphone.
You cannot use email to transfer routes to your phone and have the Tread app send them to your XT2. But even if you could, that method still gives you the same issues with routes being altered before you even set off.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

I just want to chime in here. I've been using Trip Manager to load trips to my XT2 for a month or so and it seems to improve the experience! Thanks for creating this tool.

A few 'frustrations' I'll note:
  • In the file explorer pane, I prefer to sort by date modified so the most recent files bubble to the top. It doesn't seem to retain this in subsequent sessions, but that would seem like a nice enhancement.
  • When I load trips, and the XT2 imports them, the waypoints don't follow to the collection with the route and track. Is there a setting for this, or just a behavior that I will need to accommodate?
Thanks again for a simple, but seemingly versatile tool. After my big trip in June, I may test Tread synchronizing again...

Thanks for trying it, and reporting your findings.

I will see if that can be done for the next release.

I think I know what you mean, but since I dont have an XT2, it's virtually impossible for me to comment. Maybe @jfheath can shed some light on this?

I noticed odd behaviour with route points , but have not had time to find out exactly what happens and when. Mainly because I had 3 copies of most route points and I am not sure when they were duplicated. Possibly because I transferred tracks.

It is one of the things that I wanted to feed back to @FrankB, but I have to find out what it is, when it happens and what needs to change.

At the moment I have routes that have been transferred to the XT2 as trip files, and tracks that I transferred as gox files to the SD card and which I imported manually. I placed all of the waypoints, track and route for each day into their own Collection, and have been turning on visibility for each collection one day at a time. That was all done manually.

The purpose has been to see the routes in action and to have the opportunity to provoke them to fail in the same way that the XT2 and XT1 routes normally fail. So far, at the end of day 3 of an 8 day tour, they have been perfect. Much better than any XT route that has been sent as a gpx file has been on either XT. This has been on a par with the performance of the 590 - reliable, predictable and a big aid to trouble free routing. That may seem like an odd thing to say, but in my opinion, Gamin have not produced a zumo that meets that level of performance since the 590. The 595, XT and XT2 have all shown an increasing number of issues, the ones in the 595 have carried over to the later versions.

I want to get this back home and see what has happened with track logs - because they reveal when certain odd behaviours have been experienced in mid route.

Then I'll start looking at the other features that @Frankb has included in TM. I wanted a simple baseline to be able to tell Frank - yes that part of it worked brilliantly. Then move on from there.

i can investigate the gpx file that the XT2 created from the trip file, and look at the trip files from trips that have been successfully navigated and allocated to their own collections.

I have some saved waypoints that are in more than one collection, and many that are in just one. But I put them there manually

I checked last evening and it can be done. Will be included in the next version, that is due in a few (1-3) weeks. I assume you can wait for that?

Thanks for looking into it so promptly! It's absolutely no rush. At this point, i probably wouldn't download an update until July anyway as I have an important trip starting next month and I wouldn't risk unforeseen bugs...
But come July I'll try to give you more assistance with xt2 feedback
