Clearly it doesn't, but I've seen so many bad reviews of various cords (phones and other devices), that I *try* to go OEM where possible AND if the price is reasonable.


Might have to compromise on this one.

Doesn't the cradle have the voltage reduction electronics?
Looking at the cable descriptions Dave, it must be the cradle that has the voltage reduction.

The cable description that I read has the following statement.

"Input: 12v - 24v, Output: 5v 1A (+/- .5v)"

That would indicate that the voltage reduction is in the cable.

All Garmin cables have the convertor in the plug/cable.

My 550 motorcycle cradle cable has 2 wires in it, 12v and ground.
