Hi,
I've just purchased a new XT, I attempted to update the Maps on Wifi and it failed.
There was a message on the screen saying to Cancel and try again or Use Garmin Express, I chose to try Garmin Express
When I connected to Express it checked for updates and said all was up to date
However, there are no maps installed
Is there a way to retrieve the map files?
Thanks
Missing maps
Re: Missing maps
Are you saying you now have no maps on your device? If so when you run Express with your device connected to your PC you also get a message saying your maps are up to date?
What do you see in Settings, Map&Vehicle, myMaps?

Re: Missing maps
Yes, there seems to be no maps
I guess it’s checking to see if installed maps are up to date and because there are none they are not out of date ??

Re: Missing maps
That is odd. No maps listed in MyMaps at all ????
Main Screen->Settings->Map & Vehicle->myMaps
If you have a computer available, try this
Connect the XT by USB cable to your computer.
If Express loads, then close it down.
Load Basecamp. Wait for Basecamp to recognise the XT
You should see something like this at the bottom of the top window pane on the left hand side (I'm using a PC - Apple may be different).
Ignore the bit underneath memory card. Your maps should appear under internal storage. Maybe different names, depending on where you live, but similar.
If there is nothing there, get onto Garmin Technical Support. They have a phone number - email usually takes a few days for a response. Finding the phone number takes a little hunting down on their website, but it is there if you look hard enough. UK number is 0808 238 0000.
(Type 'Garmin Support' into Bing gives a number immediately. Not so in Google. )
Or contact the shop from which you bought the Zumo XT.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: Missing maps
Normally with no maps installed Express will install the latest version, so that's not your issue.
Re: Missing maps
Thank you for your replies,
I spoke to Garmin UK this morning and they had just become aware of this issue.
They are working on a fix but have no idea on timescale as yet.
I returned the unit to the retailer and they swapped it no quibble.
Great service from both Garmin And J & S
I wont be attempting to update the new one until i've spoken to Garmin to make sure it's ok to do so

Re: Missing maps
I’ve had an issue were my up to date map was deleted (due to user error) & the XT reverted to a 2020 map. Garmin Express (which I used originally to install the 2022 map) reported my software up to date, but the XT on WiFi recognized the error and reinstalled the 2022 map. Just make sure your XT is plugged in, because the download took around 4 1/2 hours!

Re: Missing maps
The xt won't allow you to update without an external power source anyway
Which is a bit pointless if you ask me

Re: Missing maps
I had a very similar issue for a month, After a map update, no maps on the unit. To and fro with Garmin tech and in the end I spoke with them and they replaced the unit
