One thing I can't get. It was so easy to get back on route from whatever place you were at, using 2012 Nivi 1450. It just prompted if you want to start from the beginning Y/N. If you click "N", then it will lead you to the nearest route entry. Not route points, but just the magenta line. Very simple.
So the question is why this code wasn't carried over, but instead was over complicated so much... The software is re-written from scratch and it does many good things, but complexity adds more room for errors.

I drove a route yesterday and observed something that might be worth mentioning. If you start a trip on the XT and select 'Begin' the route from where you are to the beginning does not have the U-Turn behaviour. I was > 25 Km from the begin and I deviated 2 times from the XT proposed route. Both times there was just one U-Turn request, and then the XT calculated a new route.
Agreed: This is just one case. And it's not really a solution. But I think it adds more proof to the statement "Routes created on the XT dont show U-Turn behaviour"
Will think of a test case that reveals more.

@FrankB, did you skip a waypoint? The skip action gets mentioned a lot in discussions about the persistent u-turn behavior although I have lost track of whether it remains a component or has been ruled out.

@Peobody No. There are no waypoints to skip, from your current location to the beginning of the route.
edit: I have had a RUT scenario before, without have to skip a waypoint. Once I created a trip from a track (there are no waypoints either) but it still got into a RUT.

It just dawned on me that the beginning of every route for me is a waypoint down the street from my home. That waypoint is always the point I select as the entry point. The XT must calculate to it (about 200 yards). Is this what you are talking about?

Yes. But then very much further away. instead of 200 Yards > 25 Km. (15 Miles I believe) So you have a chance to deviate from the route calculated by the XT

So no odd behavior during the 25 Km calculated by the XT to get to the beginning point. Got it!

But as I tried to say earlier. I will need to do some more testing to be sure. I would like to drive the same route as the one that caused problems before. It could be just a coincidence!

To make it absolutely clear to everyone
How I start the route/trip:
- 11829.png (83.19 KiB) Viewed 896 times
The route calculated by the XT from the current position to the Red Flag. (approx 25 Km)
- 20715.png (534.37 KiB) Viewed 895 times
The blue line is the track I actually drove. Deviated twice

Doing this when I see a different problem. I pick my route start point 6-7 miles away and the XT creates a mini-route to get to it. After once or twice deviating from that mini-route, the XT goes into the "cannot calculate" error display. I have to stop the route and start over again from where I'm at at that moment and hopefully it'll get it right.
