Re: Zumo XT has never worked in the cradle
All motorcycles have a main fuse, usually in the stater solenoid area. I'd fit an in line fuse as close to the battery as I could. Imagine trapping that nice red Zumo XT wire under the seat, then after several hundred miles, it chafing down and shorting on the frame ? Fuses of any type, and as you ...

Re: Zumo XT has never worked in the cradle
Isnt an in line fuse necessary as final protection ? I'd rather rely on a final wire type fuse to a high energy source rather than just a semiconductor poly fuse. Ive seen the fires resulting in direct to battery accessory connections before.

Re: Zumo XT has never worked in the cradle
AAARGH ! poor practice to wire anything directly to a battery like that. Unless you want flame grilled underparts .. Always have a correctly rated in line fuse to the + connection direct to a battery to protect against failure. And, of course, it is the wrong way around. Good job Garmin have ...

Re: Zumo XT has never worked in the cradle
hook your XT up to the cradle and check your incoming 12v across the red/black wires, make sure its still 12v. Also check across your fuseholder, between the black wire and both sides to make sure theres not an issue there. Should be 12v on both sides with the fuse in on each blade.

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour - Major Success.
Thanks for that Frank, I've already edited all trip files this morning though using HxD and all now show as saved trips, so cannot try the little program unfortunately !

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour - Major Success.
Im really grateful to the efforts of eveyone on here to solve this issue, especially the dogged determination of jfheath for taking this on and not letting go,and the efforts of frankB for identifying the byte to flag imported or not to the Zumo in the trip file. I've a 3000 mile trip coming up in ...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour - Success.
I have been thinking that it is a Basecamp issue - or an issue when transferring / importing. The latter is more likely as we know..... I suspect also transferring / importing. All trips that you find in the trip planner, be it saved, or imported, are stored in "zūmo XT\Internal Storage\.System\ ...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)
Thank you Robert. I now understand this. My main issue is that if you go off route, the XT recalulates anyway, and can change the original route, or worse, go into this u-turn loop, which I've seen trying to get off the A2 heading north into Switzerland to avoid the San Gottard Tunnel. I always put ...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)
Ive just ticked this box on my system, Always match the route to the map on my XT. Previously it was unticked, and I've suffered from the U-turn problem. I'm not certain what it does, or if it will have any affect on the U-turn issue. does anyone understand what this check box does ? basecamp device ...

Re: Zumo XT & BaseCamp Too Many Maps Loaded
Although it looks like you have two or three maps that are the same on Basecamp, they are not. Its the same map broken up into chunks by Garmin. I made the same mistake and removed one of the chunks on the European mapping then went on holiday. I had no road maps for France and Switzerland, just ...
