If you update the maps regularly, it is worth checking for, and deleting, temporary files on your computer (this applies to Windows PCs, I'm not sure...

There are two types of maps:

NT maps are for the 550 and 660. Updated once or twice a year
NTU maps are for the newer 3 series and 590/595 and all...
